A couple is currently facing charges after a distressing incident involving a 3-year-old child who ingested THC-infused gummies, necessitating medical intervention. The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office swiftly responded to a report on June 4, where an unresponsive child was discovered at a residence on State Street Ext. The child was immediately transported to a local hospital for prompt care.
Upon careful investigation by the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, it was determined that the child had inadvertently come across THC gummies within the premises and consumed them, resulting in an overdose. The individuals involved in the incident were identified as Susan and Timothy Long, although their specific relationship to the child has not been disclosed.
During the course of the investigation, Susan and Timothy Long reportedly confessed to having marijuana-infused gummies in their possession at the residence. A subsequent search carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division revealed the presence of multiple THC gummies, some of which were found scattered on the floor.
On June 13, both Susan and Timothy Long were taken into custody by the deputies and now face charges of unlawful neglect of a child. They have been booked into the Marlboro County Detention Center, with bail set at $20,000 for each of them.
